Playoff Results – Day 22

Three of the four Round 2 series were in play on Wednesday night, and all three winning teams remained undefeated this round. The Conference Finals might be here before we know it.

Day 22 Results

  • Kris/Christian: 0-3
  • Cindy: 2-1

Round 2 Results

  • Kris/Christian: 2-11
  • Cindy: 8-5

Mama’s dominance in Round 2 continues as her Sharks and Bruins came up with big wins in Game 3, while we all fell out in the East as Washington was swept by the Bolts in a series that seemed as fast as lightning.

Vancouver and Nashville are the lone game on Thursday in the only series so far that’s guaranteed to go at least 5 games.

Playoff Results – Day 21

Hard to believe we’re wrapping up the 3 full week of NHL Playoff action, and we’re only in Round 2 still. No wonder people say the Stanley Cup is the hardest trophy to win in professional sports. Two games from Tuesday night, how’d we do?

Day 21 Results

  • Kris/Christian: 1-1
  • Cindy: 1-1

Round 2 Results

  • Kris/Christian: 2-8
  • Cindy: 6-4

The good news is, Papa and Christian finally got back on the board Tuesday night when Vancouver rallied in (yet another) OT to be Nashville in Game 3. The bad news is that all three of us had the same picks for both games, so no one was able to gain ground on Mama’s lead.

The NHL is back with 3 games on Wednesday, so now it’s time to see if the guys can get some momentum going here and chip away at that lead there.

Playoff Results – Day 20

One lonely game on Monday night on the NHL Playoff schedule, but in true playoff fashion, it was another overtime thriller. Did Philly snap out of their funk after Game 1?

Day 20 Results

  • Kris/Christian: 0-1
  • Cindy: 1-0

Round 2 Results

  • Kris/Christian: 1-7
  • Cindy: 5-3

Mama’s streak continues while Papa and Christian look to put up something other than a zero at some point in this series.

It looked promising for all of about 0:30 seconds when we turned the game on and Philly was up 2-0. But by the next TV timeout, it was tied up at 2 apiece. Then, after dinner and a trip to Target, we came home to see what had to have been the fastest goal review in NHL Playoff history when Boston smoked it passed Boucher to take a 2-0 series lead.

With two games scheduled for Tuesday, the guys are looking for someone to help them get back on the board. If they still end up scoreless after Tuesday, it might be time to shut ‘er down. We’ll see.

Playoff Results – Day 19

Sunday’s action in Round 2 was more inline with the low-scoring, hard fought battles that many come to expect in the NHL Playoffs this time of the year. With both games decided by a single goal, who came out with the lucky bounces?

Day 19 Results

  • Kris/Christian: 0-2
  • Cindy: 1-1

Round 2 Results

  • Kris/Christian: 1-6
  • Cindy: 4-3

Just another day of the same as far as our picks go. Mama scores the only win, this time with San Jose earning a 2-0 series lead over Detroit going back into Joe Louis Arena this week. We all struck out with Washington losing in OT, but we did manage to get home from our road trip just in time to see Ovi tie the game late in the 3rd.

Both San Jose and Tampa have made it to 2-0 leads against their foes, but neither series is far from over. If they manage to go up 3-0, that’s a different story, but Detroit and Washington didn’t make it this far to get hit with the brooms.

The downside of the playoffs starting in Round 2 is nights like Monday where there’s only one game on the schedule. We get spoiled during Round 1 with non-stop hockey night after night, and with Round 2 spread out (and our Hawks on the golf course) it feels like such a let down. Oh well, game on.

Playoff Results – Day 18

The third night of Round 2 proved that what’s expected and what ensues are anybody’s guess. Two games led to two different extremes on the scoresheet, so let’s see where we all stand.

Day 18 Results

  • Kris/Christian: 0-2
  • Cindy: 1-1

Round 2 Results

  • Kris/Christian: 1-4
  • Cindy: 3-2

The bleeding continues for Papa and Christian, as their picks both fall Saturday night. Boston helps Mama expand her lead, and with just four series to be contested in Round 2, any gap she builds is going to be difficult to overcome.

We caught parts of the Boston/Philly game during lunch, but only when it was still a low scoring affair. It wasn’t until the intermission of the Vancouver game did we come to learn the final score. Woah. We did see more of the Vancouver game, including Luongo’s shutout come crashing down near the end of the third period. None of us made it to double overtime, though.

Sunday is a travel day for us, so we’ll be on the road for most of the action. Let’s see if the men can catch Mama or if it’s too late for Round 2.
