The reception was one of the best portions of the evening. Everyone involved had a memorable time.
Here is a list of all the guests that attended our blessed event and made it so memorable.
As is customary, both the best man and the maid of honor presented toasts to the new husband and wife. The best man's toast included an offering that the future hold plenty of hockey for us. Cindy was given the chance to return a toast to her sister, Jill, at her wedding two years later.
Kris chose the songs for the first two dances by himself and kept them as a secret from Cindy and everyone else until the songs began to play.
The song for Kris and Cindy's first dance was "Everything" by the artist, Lifehouse. You can hear the song for yourself here.
As with the song for the first dance, Kris chose the second song as well, keeping it a secret from everyone. With everyone expected to join in for this dance, the selection was intended to allow everyone to get into the moment.
The song for Kris and Cindy's second dance was "Take Me Away", also by the artist Lifehouse. You can hear the song for yourself here.
Side-stepping tradition just slightly, Cindy was honored that her grandfather assumed the role for the father/daughter dance. As part of the ceremony, her grandfather was the one that gave her away and walked her down the aisle, so it was only fitting that he shared this dance with the bride as well.
The groom and his mother shared the traditional mother/son dance as part of the reception. Being a key influence in his life, and the oldest and first son to be married, it was an emotional experience for both of them. The song that was chosen for this dance was, "Because You Loved Me," by Celine Dion.
As with many a reception, all the single ladies lined up to catch the bouquet from the bride, including the young flower girls. After the dust settled and calm was restored, Joanna was the lucky woman to come up with the prize. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
In contrast to the bouquet toss, the remaining three single men reluctantly participated in the garter toss from the groom. This one wasn't even close, with Jason stepping up and coming away with the garter, uncontested. He and Cindy's sister had made the trip out from Iowa for the wedding, and they were married themselves two years later.
